You're right, they do include Nmap as part of Metasploit 3.1, but their
installer asks if you want to install Nmap 4.50 (which runs
nmap-4.50-setup.exe), so I must have skipped it last time as I already had a
newer version installed (4.52 and 4.53 had been out for a few weeks before
MSF 3.1 was announced).

I must admit, I wasn't aware that Zenmap/Nmap came with Metasploit. I
installed Metasploit 3.1 on Vista fairly recently and don't remember

it anywhere. Are you sure you mean Metasploit? There's nothing Nmap
related
in my Metasploit\Framework3\tools folder, and a search for zenmap.exe in
"Program Files" only comes up with the version in my Nmap folder.

I think they added it for the 3.1 release, which just came out a
couple weeks ago (http://metasploit3.com/documents/RELEASE-3.1.txt).
It might only come with the Windows installer. We gave them special
permission to include Nmap, since Metasploit is under a different
license than the GPL. I'm a a big fan of the Metasploit project, and
other Nmap users apparently are as well (it is #5 on SecTools.org).
So I hope it proves useful to them! Metasploit has actually been able
to use Nmap for many years, but this is the first time it has shipped
with Nmap.

Cheers,
Fyodor
