nmap 4.53 ARP ping under my XP SP2 needs promisc. mode to work properly

Dear nmap developers,

I noticed that the nmap-4.53 ARP ping feature does not work under my
Windows XP SP2 unless I set the interface into promisc. mode e.g. by
tracing the packets with wireshark, therefore I thought to drop you a
short note.
