NMAP Feature Request

Perhaps this is already in nmap and I haven't figured out how to do it yet. Could someone add an option to perform do the following. Ping a host, if the host is down move forward with a port scan. If an open port is identified stop scanning that host and move onto the next one in the list. Basically a really fast discovery scan that only notes if the host is up. Is there any way to achieve this type of scan with nmap right now? I don't want to identify open ports, just scan until it finds an open port on a host, then note the host is alive and move onto the next host. This would be extremely helpful in performing large discovery scans on huge networks. =========================================== Mark Maxey | Security Consultant | Accuvant Louisville, KY | C: 859.948.5841 http://www.accuvant.com _______________________________________________ Sent through the nmap-dev mailing list http://cgi.insecure.org/mailman/listinfo/nmap-dev Archived at http://SecLists.Org
