I even can provoke this error when I press Ctrl+S for Suspend and wait
a short time and then continue with Ctrl+Q (only in possible with --
packet-trace on) Is this behaviour expected? Should I focus on my
network adapter why it blocks for such a long time?

Hello,
I have not found a solution yet and appreciate every suggestion to
pinpoint this problem or avoid it.
I tried among the test posted 10 days ago:
- compile and run on another redhat 9 machine: problem reproduced
- compile and run on a knoppix 4.0.2 harddisk install: same behaviour

older version 3.81 (3.30) out of the box or compiled are working.

PS: Thanks for your answer, shiva Prasad, but I assume your test is not
comparable, because it is running on XP, using SYN scan not ARP and it
stopped with an error running out of ports.
