XP SP2, v3.70, sllooooowww ping scan??

Hi Everybody,
I'm sucessfully using Nmap v3.70 on XP SP2 but I've now noticed that a ping
scan, eg. nmap -sP 192.168.0.1-254, takes a very, VERY long time.
The previous version I used (v3.00 which is still on the machine) completes
this in around 40-60 seconds, V3.70 takes around 90 seconds to do
192.168.0.1-10!
Of course the older version is "broken" under SP2, but I'm keeping it 'cause
of this ping scan problem.
Anyone else observe this phenomenon?
