Nmap 3.70 with winpcap 3.0

Hi,

Recently I have upgraded the nmap version to 3.70 from 3.50. It seems to be working fine with 
winpcap 3.0.But according to the documentation, I must be downloading the winpcap 3.1 for the nmap version 3.70. 
Can some one please let me know why nmap 3.70 needs winpcap 3.0 version ? Are there some bugfixes/features that are in 
winpcap 3.1 and not in 3.0 that might affect nmap 3.70 ?
