This may be fixed in ALPHA7, but it wasn't noted in the changelog.

server1:~/nmap-dev/bin# ./nmap -vv -iR -p 80

Starting nmap 3.59ALPHA6 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2004-08-28 22:49 PDT
Initiating SYN Stealth Scan against 5 hosts [1660 ports/host] at 22:51
Discovered open port 23/tcp on 218.x.x.221

Perhaps I'm screwing something up in the syntax, but my intention is to only scan port 80, and the same syntax works fine on 2.54BETA31

Starting nmap V. 2.54BETA31 ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ )
No tcp, udp, or ICMP scantype specified, assuming vanilla tcp connect() scan. Use -sP if you really don't want to portscan (and just want to see what hosts are up). Host rrcs-west-24-xx-xx-xx.biz.rr.com (24.xx.xx.xx) appears to be up ... good. Initiating Connect() Scan against rrcs-west-24-xx-xx-xx.biz.rr.com (24.xx.xx.xx)
Adding open port 80/tcp
The Connect() Scan took 0 seconds to scan 1 ports.
Interesting ports on rrcs-west-24-xx-xx-xx.biz.rr.com (24.xx.xx.xx):

Haven't had a chance to look at the source yet... my inexperience both with C and the nmap codebase would probably prove to be of little value anyway. ;)
