Hi all!
First off, please copy any replies to my address, because i am not
subscribed to the list.
I have nmap 3.27 installed on Solaris 9. This particular nmap 3.27 came
from Sunfreeware.com, but i have tried it with a self-built nmap, too.
The problem i am having is that, when scanning through a firewall (i.e.
practically no responses), nmap "hangs". It sends the first few packets,
then, according to truss, it goes to sleep in a getmsg() call (the
fourth getmsg() call in a row) and never wakes up. "Never" is not quite
right. I have discovered that if i pull out the Ethernet cable, then
stick it back in, nmap will wake up and send the next group of packets,
then fall back asleep. It also receives signals just fine (e.g SIGINT).
Changing the timing options doesn't help (i use --max_rtt_timeout 200
- --min_parallelism 100).
As mentioned, Solaris 9. Tested on an Ultra 1 with qfe interfaces and
an Ultra 10 with an hme interface. The interfaces do have aliases (i.e.
hme0:1, hme0:2). More information available on request.
        Thanks!

                        -&
