nmap v3 problem - help on this list?

Not sure which nmap list is to be used to request assistence with a
v3 problem, so I'll try here.

RH v7.1, 1ghz, 512meg

nmap v2.54beta37 has been running fine (including with nessus v2)

running namp v3 (any subversion) with:
 ./nmap -sS -p1-100 192.168.1.101  (the host is up and on the local wire)

responds with:
Starting nmap 3.27 ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2003-05-31 17:36 CDT
Serious time computation problem in adjust_timeout ... received = (1054420581,
187453) sent=(1054420581,196002) delta = 0 srtt = -8549 rttvar = 5000 to = 300000
QUITTING!

I've tried installing nmap v3.27 from rpm's and compiled from source. 
Both have the same problem.

What am I missing?
