Well, After making some tests, it seems that for differents live hosts on the Internet normally replying to ICMP echo request : - Syn scanning does not work (-sS) - Connect Scanning works fine (-sT) - I need the -P0 option to have the TCP Connect Scan working fine. If no, no host is detected I gave all rights to nmap (either TCP and UDP) on Tiny Firewall and MS Firewall is not activated. I don't have any logs in Tiny saying something was deny to nmap or even to svchost. But maybe it's now the wrong mailing list as nmap is not the problem ;-) Thanks for your help anyway. Jeff BTW : Got the same result with Tiny off... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andy Lutomirski" <luto () myrealbox com> To: <nmap-dev () insecure org> Sent: Friday, March 29, 2002 6:22 AM Subject: Re: RE: Nmap on WinXP Pro? If anyone has trouble getting their nmap on windows to find adapters, run nmap --win_trace --win_list_interfaces -d -d, which will display the adapter list as nmap sees it and much of the thinking along the way. I really do not have the experience/expertise to tell why it is not working for you. There are command line options for specifying the adapter to use. Like -S for the IP and -e for the device name. I've never had to use them so i don't know how -e works under wintendo, but maybe someone on the list will be able to help you. The URLs for the nmaps I built with .NET and which work on my XP and w2k machines (except 1 system) are here: http://www.cell2000.net/~users/tangui/nmap-2.54BETA30.bin.D.zip http://www.cell2000.net/~users/tangui/nmap-2.54BETA31.bin.D.zip Note: it might be wise to scan these files with an anti-virus program since I don't own such a thing and can not guarantee them being virus free.
