Defcon Presentation: Friday July 29th

After my May CanSecWest presentation announcement, some people
responded that they couldn't afford the registration fee or objected
that it was held in Canada. I don't know if they just don't like
Canadians, are wanted for arrest warrants there, couldn't get
permission of their parole officer to leave the US, or what :).

In any case, I have heard your message. My next presentation is at
Defcon on Friday, July 29 at 2:00PM. The registration cost there is
only $80 and Las Vegas is one of the cheapest and easiest destinations
to reach in the US. I will be speaking on advanced Nmap Usage, from
clever hacks for teaching Nmap new tricks to new and undocumented
features for bypassing firewalls, optimizing scan performance,
defeating intrusion detection systems, finding free Internet porn, and
more. I was up until 6AM this morning working on some new raw
ethernet features for the DC release :).

At the risk of offending all of my other friends who are presenting,
here are some other talks that packet crafting Nmap types may enjoy:

Robert E. Lee & Jack C. Louis - Unicornscan - Riding the Unicorn
Dan Kaminsky - Black Ops 2005
Jennifer Granick - Top 10 Legal Issues in Computer Security
Phil Zimmermann - His next big project
Robert Morris Sr. - ATM Network Vulnerabilities
Annalee Newitz, Wendy Seltzer, Seth Schoen et. all - Ask EFF about Digital Liberties
Richard Thieme - Recapturing the Revolutionary Heart of Hacking
Raven - Pen-testing the Backbone
Paul Vixie - I dunno, Bind maybe?
Jason Scott - His BBS documentary
Schmoo Group - Their new warez
MadHat, Simple Nomad - NMRC warez
Paul Graham - Inequality and Risk
Ian Clarke & Oskar Sandberg - Scalable Searches in Dark P2P Networks
Bruce Potter - Suicidal Linux
Jay Beale - System Hardening

Not a bad lineup, I'd say! Get the full details on these and dozens
of other talks at
http://www.defcon.org/html/defcon-13/dc13-schedule.html

See (some of) you there!
