Hey all,

I don't know if this has been disscussedon this list before, but there
is an excellent set of SNMP widgets for TCL/TK in the form of scotty's
snmp widget set. SNMP is also scary because devices normally don't
bother the record the number of failed attempts to get in. So you can
effectively attempt to bruteforce a community string if you have the
time and inclination.

snmpwalk and snmpget are two utilities that come with either the CMU or
UC-Davis implementations of SNMP and do a nice job of dumping the entire
MIB or retrieving specific variables. Both utils (as well as nmap2.00)
and all sorts of other goodies are available in Trinux.

Personally I *don't* think SNMP should be included in nmap--it would be
added bloat considering the size of the mib--especially v2.
