NYC Metro Fiber Cut

Anyone hear about any fiber cuts in the NYC Metro that happened yesterday ? I had a service outage yesterday (that was 
area wide) with a carrier who I will not name that was blamed on a fiber cut. 

Any further information that could be offered would be appreciated.
