There may not need to be competition in the capitalist sense of the word but there needs to be some feedback loop for the consumer of a service to provide feedback on their satisfaction with it. In the case of a government provided service people vote at the polls. With a commercially provided service people vote with their money. Without any recourse for the consumer of a service there is no motivation to improve or advance the technology. Steven Naslund Chicago IL
