All mobile operators in Egypt have been instructed to suspend services in selected areas. Under Egyptian legislation

To my knowledge, no one has reported any cable problems in Norther Africa
- -- and news of those problems generally travels very fast.  :-)

Also, if there *was* a cable problem on one of the paths through the vicinity, it affect more than just Egypt:
