Not to belabor the obvious, but Verizon Wireless and Verizon are different companies with different management and separate infrastructure. VZW is a joint venture between VZ and Vodaphone. VZW recently confirmed that their mail system is separate from VZ's, and whatever mistakes they may make, they're not VZ's.
