Re: First it was backhoes, then flaming trains, and now...both?

"MULVANE, Kan. (AP) - A freight train carrying hazardous
materials caught fire Thursday after it hit a backhoe
apparently parked on the tracks by vandals."

It would have been ironic if the accident had severed a
major fiber conduit.

<edge_dweller_speculation_and_commentary>

Indeed... not much fiber in Mulvane, AFAIK, but I believe
that some of the runs from WCHTKS to OKCYOK probably come
close. Fiber from Kansas City to Dallas usually goes
through Wichita.

Hmmmm.... I just ran a Mulvane NPA/NXX, and the CLLI
indicates that Mulvane is a WCHTKS CO. Perhaps there is
some local fiber, although I'd think that it's too fast
for Mulvane speed limits. ;-)

Watch out for speed traps if you ever have the misfortune
of driving through^W^W^W^W opportunity to visit Mulvane...
