There are install directions available on the metasploit website, for all
supported platforms. My opinion is that you would be better served in the
long run learning how it works on the various *nix flavors of unix & linux.

You can find a great metasploit tutorial from the guys at offensive
security. If getting metasploit installed & configured is giving you
problems, try the BackTrack security suite available at
www.backtrack-linux.org. Metasploit is pre-installed & ready to go in
whichever download you pick.

hi,

i quite new to metasploit, but heard a lot about it.

i am interested to explore way the Vulnerability scan and exploit is made.
i am facing problems in installing metasploit in Windows XP dedicated
system
for this
i installe metasploit 3.0 from archive and updated it to 3.8.

but, i am unable to create any database, whether database is mandatory for
this ?
i am not clear with installation procedure, and how to setup a basic sytem
for running exploit,
ie , that to know the available weekness of the neighbour computers in work
place.

is it mandatory to do this use only LInux or can it be done using Windows.

please give your opinion and guidance
