returning to system

When you get a meterpreter shell with SYSTEM privileges then use
incognito to impersonate a different user is there a guaranteed way to
go back to SYSTEM?

I was using this on a test the other day and found that sometimes
running getsystem worked but other times I was stuck as that new user.
It would be good to leave the SYSTEM door wedged open so I can get
back there without having to leave the shell and re-exploit.
