Can we use python in writing modules

Hi list,

I have just got an interest in using metasploit and now thinking of
writing some modules for it (only if I could read and understand
the existing ~1,00,000 lines of code ;) .

I am very much new to ruby but I have worked on python.

So, just wanted to know whether instead of ruby, modules can be
written in python ?
Does python has all the dependencies for writing metasploit modules ?
