msfgui windows bug

I recently installed the latest version of the framework on a laptop running
windows vista in English but which has support for right-to-left languages.

The msfgui menus get displayed from right to left and are unreadable.
Instead of English, some garbage characters are displayed.

Has anyone got any idea how to fix this?
