The bug was resolved -- the MySQL adapter needs the port number to be converted to an integer. Most database drivers will auto-convert. The solution was to force conversion of any specified port values to integers and the fix is now available in trunk and stable. Thanks to axnjxnind for his help in resolving it. -HD
