It was relatively cheap ($20/year * 3). The Starfield CA was only 
recently 
added to OpenSSL's list of trusted certs, so older clients won't 
trust 
the new cert by default. This still seemed like a step up from our 
self-signed cert and was hella cheaper than the $120+/year that 
Verisign/Thawte/GeoTrust/etc ask for.
