Official Metasploit SILC Channel

I would like to invite the framework list to join us on the official
metasploit SILC channel, hosted on skape's hick.org server.

This channel is an easy way to talk to other users of the Metasploit
framework, ask questions from the development staff, and keep in the
touch with the Metasploit community.

SILC (http://silcnet.org/) is an encrypted chat protocol that provides a
command set and feature list similar to IRC. At this time, there are two
SILC clients worth using.

The first one and the only one available for Windows users without Cygwin,
is Pidgin, the multi-protocol IM client formerly known as GAIM. Pidgin
has excellent SILC support and is a great all-around IM client to boot.
You can download the latest version of Pidgin from http://pidgin.sf.net/
(Windows installer, Fedora Core RPMs, and the source code). Gentoo
already has a pidgin package, so users of this distribution only need to
run "emerge pidgin".

Once Pidgin has been installed, you need to configure a new account and
join the Metasploit channel:

1) Access the Accounts menu, select the Add/Edit option
2) Click the Add button on the bottom of the window
3) From the Protocol list, select SILC
4) Enter your handle into the screen name field
5) Select the Advanced tab, enter silc.hick.org for the connect server
6) Click Save

This will cause Pidgin to immediately connect to the silc.hick.org server
on port 706. Once you are connected, access the Buddies menu from the
main window, select the Join a Chat option. In the dialogue, select the
SILC account from the drop-down, enter "metasploit" as the channel, and
click Join. A chat window will open and you will be connected.

The second way to access SILC is via the official SILC client. This client
is only available for Unix-like platforms. Most Linux distributions
include a SILC package and installing it should just be a matter of
emerge/rpm/apt-get or similar. Once SILC has been installed, run the
following command to access the Metasploit channel:

$ silc -c silc.hick.org

The first time you run this, silc will generate a new key pair for you.
Just follow the prompts until the key is generated and the client
connects to the server. Once you see the welcome message from the server,
type "/join metasploit" to access our channel. If the silc client
immediately exits after you run this command, you may need to set the
real name field in your system's passwd file.

See you online!
