The environment should work the same way, but changes were made to how 
values with spaces were treated and many of the options have been 
renamed.

None planned, it was removed from the 2.x tree since nobody used it.

3. Impurity ELF injection functionality?
Maybe, its a feature very few people use. The long-term goal is a 
metepreter port for non-Windows platforms.

Strangely, the auto-complete does not seem to be functioning from the
base prompt of msfconsole. Possibly something wrong at my end (Linux
2.4.20 with Ruby 1.8.4)...

You may need to install GNU Readline and then rebuild the Ruby 
interpreter.
