Department of Finance's phones hacked into

A network of phones at the Department of Finance and Personnel has been 
targeted by phone hackers.

Officials became suspicious about 18 months ago after being charged for 
calls they had not made. The bill came to £34,000.

Kevin Curran, a computer expert at the University of Ulster, said there 
were several ways people could protect themselves from phone hackers.

He said software was available that can alert people to criminal 
activity.
