National Assembly probe into IT security breach

The breach, which happened on Tuesday morning, could have led to confidential files relating to AMs’ constituents being accessed by unauthorised Assembly employees. Shadow Environment Minister Angela Burns has written to Claire Clancy, chief executive of the Assembly Commission, asking for an inquiry to be set up. She said: “This has the potential to be a very serious lapse in IT security that could easily have implications for data protection. "Thousands of constituents who write to their AMs have confidential information stored on a private drive. I am worried these files could have been accessed by anyone working at the Assembly. [...]
