Tesoro student pleads guilty to computer hacking, gets probation

Tanvir Singh, 18, of Ladera Ranch pleaded guilty in court to one felony count and one misdemeanor count under a plea deal negotiated Tuesday. In exchange, prosecutors dropped the three other felony counts against him and could call on him to testify against his alleged co-conspirator, Omar Khan, who faces 69 felony counts and is believed to be the mastermind of the plot. Singh also will have to pay court fees and all restitution, including possible damages to the school, said Susan Schroeder of the Orange County District Attorney's Office. With good behavior, Singh will have the opportunity to have his felony count reduced to a misdemeanor after one year. And after successful completion of probation, the misdemeanor count also could be expunged from his record – a standard procedure, prosecutors said. [...]
