PR advisers to the rich and famous are warning their clients to be
on their guard amid claims that journalists are resorting to
increasingly underhand methods to hack into celebrities' mobile
phones.

[snip]

Hacking into strangers' mobile phone voicemail boxes is a relatively
simple process but can only be used if the mobile phone user has not
personalised his or her voicemail access code.

[snip]

"It's underhand and it's not encouraged but it is common practice
and everyone does it."

And it's an easy matter for the telco's to see who is accessing what
accounts. Especially since this most likely isn't any elite
phreaking, or excuse me ... "hacking," as the article states, given
that accounts not yet set up are allegedly be targeted, but more along
the lines of no-brainer defaults.

:: shakes his head ... at these alleged savvy journalists, including
the hack who wrote this article ... ::

ciao
