The first such unit in the state has come up at Rasulgarh on the outskirts of this city. The State Crime Record Bureau office has been designated to function as the cyber police station. "Cyber-related crime has seen an increase across the globe. The police station has been set up to check such cases in Orissa," the official said. "There have been allegations of fraudulent monetary transactions on the Net. Crimes such as hacking, dissemination of virus, cyber theft and intimidation through mail and cyber porn have been reported," he said. "Earlier police stations probed these crimes, but officials there were not well trained to handle the complaints," he said. "This prompted us to set up a specialised police station. "Officials posted at the cyber police station are specially trained to deal with such crimes. These cases will be investigated by this station only." "Orissa is also making the provision of accessing details of crimes and criminals by setting up a computerised data bank, which would be available at the click of a mouse," he said. It is also computerising its jail management system and land records. - ISN is currently hosted by Attrition.org To unsubscribe email majordomo () attrition org with 'unsubscribe isn' in the BODY of the mail.
