In late September, 2000, the RSA Patent expires. Rivest, Shamir, and
Adelman, Public Key Cryptography's most famous supergroup, developed
this algorithm about 20 years ago. So, between the US constitutution,
dubious behavior on the part of the US Patent office ("and other
government agencies") and international treaty organizations, here we
are at the dawn of a new millenium and we're about to have access to
free-range biprime asymmetric cryptography.

The Date The Shmoo currently interpret the date to be September 20th,
2000, midnight local time, for the actual expiration. There has been
MUCH discussion of this, and if you think this is wrong, send us
email, or, better, post something sane and coherent with your logic on
the DCSB, or Cryptography, or some other relevant mailing list.

If you are planning a party, tell us. We're going to make a list, and
post it here. Please send us:

a small image URL if you have one.
