Sandvine, Ellacoya, and other companies pitch the idea that DPI is something that ought to be widely utilized in the 
Internet. Their basic idea is that the idea of moving function to the edges is inefficient, dangerous, suboptimal, 
... and that their wonderful capabilities of digging deep into packets, blocking, modifying content, etc. are 
essential to the Internet.

Though they claim benefits - this article shows what their technology is really purchased for: wiretapping and 
censorship, etc.

I guess if the product you have is really good for wiretapping and censorship, your investors will be upset if you 
don't maximize the return on investment by satisfying those markets.

Too bad there aren't rules against making tools for tyrants.
