Date: March 10, 2018 at 4:44:12 PM EST To: dewayne () warpspeed com Sandvine, Ellacoya, and other companies pitch the idea that DPI is something that ought to be widely utilized in the Internet. Their basic idea is that the idea of moving function to the edges is inefficient, dangerous, suboptimal, ... and that their wonderful capabilities of digging deep into packets, blocking, modifying content, etc. are essential to the Internet. Though they claim benefits - this article shows what their technology is really purchased for: wiretapping and censorship, etc. I guess if the product you have is really good for wiretapping and censorship, your investors will be upset if you don't maximize the return on investment by satisfying those markets. Too bad there aren't rules against making tools for tyrants. <https://citizenlab.ca/2018/03/bad-traffic-sandvines-packetlogic-devices-deploy-government-spyware-turkey-syria/> Dewayne-Net RSS Feed: http://dewaynenet.wordpress.com/feed/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/wa8dzp
