How disappointing: This much-hyped medical AI is more like 1980s expert
systems, not good at diagnosing cancer. Rather than exploring data through
something like a neural network, IBM just has doctors input their
diagnoses, and the system is supposed to develop independent thought from
them. As the article points out, the subjective training method creates a
risk of bias.
