Thomas's analysis is far better than any I could offer; so I'll just
observe that it's telling that this vile rant uses the word "fire"
repeatedly.  Heinrich Heine, in his play "Almansor" (circa 1820) quite
accurately observed:

        Dort, wo man Bucher verbrennt, verbrennt man am Ende auch Menschen.

        (Where they burn books, they will in the end also burn people.)
