Subject: "stay tuned"?

Dave, a question for the more technically informed. For decades now
we have used the metaphor of "tuning in" in a variety of ways. I just
wrote an e-mail message whose full text was "thanks: stay tuned",
meaning roughly, I'll get back to you soon. My question is, does
"tuning" work as a description of what happens when I switch from one
digital cable channel to another?
