Dave -- For IP: The National Academies Board on Science Education recently released a preliminary public draft of a “Framework for Science Education.” This is intended to be an authoritative guideline that can be used widely to shape curriculum standards. Computer science and "computational thinking" are never discussed in the document. The word "computer" appears only about a dozen times in 190 pages, typically as part of the phrase "computer simulation." I would like to encourage you to provide commentary on the report. The authors need to, and deserve to, hear from you loud and clear. A major element of the necessary STEM grounding of any 21st century student has been entirely omitted by the study committee. You can read the report and comment here: http://www7.nationalacademies.org/bose/Standards_Framework_Public_Draft_Cover_Letter.html
