Subject: Why is the Kindle sold in Zimbabwe, East Timor but not New Zealand?

Hi Dave
The Kindle is a superb device to have while traveling, and us Kiwis are some of the best travelers around.

However while the Kindle is available in a list of 100 countries or so it is still not available in New Zealand. The Kindle is sold in Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Russia - and locally in Vanuwatu, Samoa and East Timor. But it is not available in New Zealand - a country which topped Transparency International table of corruption perception and is rated the 2nd easiest place to do business by the World Bank's Doing Business group.

Folks over here thought this was a temporary problem, to be solved when the carriers and Amazon sorted out the finer details. However it's now been months since the global launch and we've seen no progress, nor any announcements.

What is going on here? What can we do?

Lance
Wellington, New Zealand
