The FCC has been holding a series of workshops to solicit information  
that
will help in writing the National Broadband Plan.  One panel contains  
some
preeminent Internet researchers, so it may be of particular interest to
the research community.

The Internet of the Future, and How To Get There

•       Van Jacobson, Research Fellow, Palo Alto Research Center
•       Scott Shenker, Professor of Computer Science, UC Berkley
•       Taieb Znati, Division Director, National Science Foundation
•       Robert D. Atkinson, President, Information Technology and Innovation
Foundation
Moderator:  Jon Peha, Chief Technologist, Federal Communications  
Commission


Less research oriented, but for those with an interest in issues related
to video over the Internet, the panel that follows immediately will
include

•       Angela K. Morgenstern, Managing Director, PBS Online

This will occur on Thursday, Sept. 3.  The first panel begins at
