This is embarrassing... AT&T has 100,000 total IPTV subscribers, ---  
that
represents 25 states. Some data from recent AT&T releases:

As of September 7th, AT&T had 100,000 cable competitive services  
using IPTV
through its 25 state footprint. U-Verse is currently only available in 9
states.

AT&T claimed it has passed 5 million homes, but the fine print of the  
press
release says "with service available to nearly half of those  
households."
--- thus it can serve 2.5 million total. ---

This means that only 4% of customers actually are signing up --- it's
impossible to figure out what is happening in the states served, so  
maybe
it's 10-15% at best. .

In order to get the SBC-AT&T merger to happen, AT&T claimed it would  
have 18
million homes passed by 2007.  Then it bought BellSouth, adding an
additional 12 states.

AT&T current projection is that it will 'pass 8 million by 2007, meaning
that 4 million might be able to get the service.

To celebrate the 100,000th-customer milestone, AT&T is providing a
complimentary Home Technology Makeover to the Pierson family of Los  
Angeles.

5.5 million homes by 2000 in California, spending $16 billion (annual

1993)
6.0 million homes by 2000 in Ameritech, Annual report, 1993
