David -

For IP:

Conversely, it is nearly impossible for a US citizen to get work in the IT field in the EU or the UK. The EU requires a company to show, via the filing of much paperwork, that they were unable to fill a position in the EU, before they can even seek to hire someone who is not an EU citizen.

I've wanted to live and work in the UK or Europe for many years, but I have yet to find a company that will sponsor me, even though at times there has been a shortage of skilled IT workers there.

I believe that the situation is similar in Australia and New Zealand, while I hear these countries have shortages of skilled IT workers, getting permission to work there as a non-citizen is very hard.

It's already hard enough for us non-Americans to work in the US. Why not make it easier? Can't Americans compete? Maybe that is the issue. I don't know.

Please don't flame me. I am just asking if it's not a bit rich for America to impose 'Globalization'/'Free trade' elsewhere but not at home.

Just asking. Really don't know. The world is changing rapidly and these issue deserve open dialog, not just fear from all sides of what can be lost.

Good Morning Doctor Farber:

Have not heard much about this bill that is floating through Congress on the IP list. I could see where it might be a very touchy issue for your list to discuss, but nonetheless I am forwarding the text of a letter I just sent to Nancy Pelosi regarding the proposed H1B visa increase.

Thanks,
~aw

Dear Madam Speaker:

It has come to my attention that there is a bill in Congress to raise the H1B visa limit…AGAIN!!!

The SKILL Act of 2006 has been designed to devastate the careers of professionals all across America. ......
