Homeland Security's visitor tracking program (US VISIT), has called for the creation of a "global ID management system", with the goal of making travel easier while enhancing security. Williams told people attending the annual meeting of the National Business Traveler's Association that he had once been temporarily unable to board a plane due to a name clash with someone on the terrorist watch list. It wasn't clear whether Williams wants governments other than the US to participate in the proposed program, but he said he wants to work with other DHS agencies to develop a global identification system that would cut wait times, reduce government fees for travelers, fight illegal immigration, and better defend nations from terrorists. His hosts, the business travelers' association, welcomed the proposal. ------ Sounds a little like a world REAL ID proposal. Sigh. ------------------------------------- You are subscribed as lists-ip () insecure org To manage your subscription, go to http://v2.listbox.com/member/?listname=ip Archives at: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/
