(NOT for IP)

Hi Dave,

I've run a number of high traffic/subscriber lists myself, and I know that it can take a bit of an emotional toll, especially when the topics themselves are emotional. But I was just walking in the blazing NYC heat and was thinking about the recent discussions on the IP list and the variety of viewpoints that have been expressed, and I realized how highly I value receiving those viewpoints. I often feel like those around me are so polarized at the moment that it's almost impossible to hear the voices of intelligent, rational people who happen to disagree with me. So then I saw your post below and I thought I'd write a quick note to thank you for running IP and for all of the work you've put into it. I'm sure it gets frustrating and exhausting at times. I hope you continue to find the energy to do it!

I also am distressed often by the tone of some of the notes. I DO NOT tend to forward those notes UNLESS they contribute some valid points. I can not and will not do editing .

Dave

When I joined this list, I expected rational discussions, not flame fests with everyone ridiculing anyone who disagrees with them. Very intelligent people have differing views on every subject discussed here. Is it time for you to pull the plug on the childishness, or for me to ask to be removed?

Dave, this one is easy. If the bad guy can discover that middle-aged
white females or rosy-cheeked white children under 10 are never being
searched, he will figure out how to booby-trap one.

Just re-read the above. And add it to the prattling we've been seeing
recently about the most mathematically effective ways to search innocent
people. Never a word questioning the rationality of a society that
apparently thinks it normal to wants to treat all of its citizens as
criminal suspects in the first place.

Are Americans conscious of what the consequences of their foreign policies
of the last 50 years are turning them into? Totally paranoid,
terrorist-obsessed crazies. What on earth are they feeding into you people's heads day-in and day-out over there? And now Tony B. Liar is bringing the
same upon the British.
