<snip>
 There's a fundamental difference between a blogger and a reporter
-- the former is without editorial controls placed on what they
choose to write, nor are they subject to ethical or moral standards,
beyond ridicule.

Actually, one of America's greatest investigative journalists and
commentators, Isadore Stone, unable to get steady employment at traditional
publication, started his own one-man weekly in 1952,

In 1964, Stone was the only journalist to challenge the Johnson
Administration's account of the Gulf of Tonkin incident, which was used to
increase America's presence in the Vietnam War (gee, this is starting to
sound familiar...).
