The article you posted earlier on DHS visiting the
U-Mass Dartmouth student's parent's home when he
requested a red Chinese book reminded me of this
article in today's Washington Post on torture by a
former Soviet recipient of Soviet torture.

I don't presume to know what our CIA, agencies, and
troops regularly do to get information out of our
enemies, but this article certainly helps clarify the
usefulness, lack of usefulness, and enherent dangers
of using torture and torture-like actions and how
dangerous their use is to our society.  Our use of
torture-like tactics today would eerily make our
society's actions like those of actions we despised in
our former Soviet enemy.  Just thinking that
possibility presented in the article makes me feel
ill.
