Dave,
 The First Amendment is NOT intrinsically violated by the "Fairness 
Doctrine".
 In fact, they have nothing to do with each other.
 Public Service broadcast time at least WAS an inherent part of the 
License Fee
 for-profit stations paid to the public in exchange for the use of OUR 
airwaves,
 and all or almost all equal time broadcasts qualified as counting 
toward that
 obligation.  If you want to broadcast, you have to pay the--in 
kind--fee, just
 as with many other kinds of free speech.  If you want to put out a 
newspaper
 more than once, you had better pay the printer and not squeal "free 
speech"
 when you get the bill.
