Domains have become valuable business assets, yet are often loosely

That should read "some domains have become valuable business assests".
This is the same sort of conflation as "the primary Internet protocol is
http".

Five calendar days? Consider Thanksgiving weekend. That's four days
right there. Then there is the xmas/new year break. Many people have
a week or more off at that time (especially folks in academia).

Default yes? This is the same as automatic "opt out" policies. Dress
them up and spin however, they just are not in the interest of the
individual on the receiving end.

What possible rationality is there is justify this policy?
