Dave,

This headline is somewhat absurd. The fact that Blackberrys will be 
used to access law enforcement networks is no more interesting than 
knowing exactly which cellular network a police detective's cellphone 
uses. Likewise for the iPaqs that will access the FBI's National Crime 
Information Center database.

Speaking of which, does the ACLU think that when the Transportation 
Security Administration confronts a suspicious individual at an 
airport, it won't, or shouldn't, make the same kind of check for 
outstanding warrants that the highway patrol does when they pull 
someone over?

There are plenty of things to be concerned with when it comes to 
travel, law enforcement, and widespread datamining, but it isn't 
obvious this is one of them.
