From: Brian Randell <Brian.Randell () newcastle ac uk>Mobile phone users are facing the biggest spam nuisance to date as computers bombard thousands of phones with a new scam called "missed call marketing", the Guardian can reveal.
Not that new. NTT DoCoMo's keitai / iMode phones were bombarded heavily with this till several months back (they call it "wangiri" / "one ring" in Japan, and dialing the missed call would play you a pitch for a "deai" site .. a "dating" site that actually offered "paid escorts") I think they put quite a few measures in place (such as not logging a missed call on a single ring, for starters, besides going after the phone spammers legally) srs ------------------------------------- You are subscribed as interesting-people () lists elistx com To manage your subscription, go to http://v2.listbox.com/member/?listname=ip Archives at: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/
