Dave,
I think the readers of IP deserve better wording than
reflected here:  the day after the report was released,
Dr. Geer did not "leave" his post with @Stake, he was
fired.  In order to fudge things further, @Stake has said
their action took place the day before the report's
release.  Geer says he knew nothing of this.  I leave
the decision to your readers, but as someone who has
know him for 15 years, I'd buy Geer's version.
