It should be kept in mind that William Kristol, as a founding member (and chairman) of the neo-conservative "Project for the New American Century" - http://www.newamericancentury.org - has a vested interest in how Mr. Wolfowitz and his comments are viewed.

Wolfowitz, after all, is a signatory on the Project's "Statement of Principles" and a leading neo-conservative, along with Rumsfeld, Cheney, William Bennett, Vin Weber, Eliott Abrams...and other names not so notable, but part of the Bush administration.

Also worth noting that in January of 98, Kristol et. al. sent a letter to then president Clinton, urging the removal of Saddam. (Letter avail. at the PNAC website.)

That particular axe was a long time grinding.
